We were looking forward to the festival since last year that we went and sadly I must admit I was very disappointed. Firstly when we got there we had to park our car almost 2km from the camping spot, wait for the truck to load the hundreds of campers and unload them again at the site. We couldnt wait and took our tent, blow up matress, cooler bag, togbag, and sleeping gear and lugged it for the entire 2km. When we got to the gate of the camp we still had another 200m to carry all our gear before we could set up camp.
Anyway it was worth it and we could finally pitch the tent and go see some bands. I forgot to read the news update and didnt take gum boots with. So I was sludging through the mud to get wherever I needed to go. My shoes were stuck in the mud and soon my pants were soaked and hardened from the mud splashes. Not that I am only complaining it is an amazing festival but needs some upgrading. The Band line up wasnt as good as the last year and some of the lead singers could not be heard proparly due to logistics. But needless to say we had a good time and although the toilets werent the best at times and the food ridiculously expensive we will consider going again. Only if we dont sleep over.
The place is an absolute mess and litter galaxy the next morning and not only is it rough on the eyes the smell is horrible as well. So no thanks I dont want to be there the morning after. The wind is also terrible at that time of year and most of the tents were either torn or just blown away. I was knocked on the head a couple of times by the tent not holding fast.
I know I must sound like a total moan groan but they really need to make a plan with the camping arrangements, VIP Tickets and Band Line up. We had VIP tickets but it didnt really mean anything, we had an allocated bar with a white little picket fence people jumped over anyway.
But alas it all depends on who you are with and we were with good company. Watching the rockers was really entertaining by itself. The outfits, the fashion, the hats, shoes and attitude was worth experiencing.
So packing up the next morning we prepared our gear “carry friendly” and headed back to the car.
