Mandela vs Bush…This is the joke of the month

Our Fun No Comments »

Mandela was enjoying a hearty breakfast - bacon, eggs, coffee, Croissants, toast, butter, jam, etc. when Bush (chewing gum) sits next to him and starts a conversation:

Bush: ‘You South Africans eat the whole bread?’

Mandela: ‘Of course.’ Bush: (blowing bubbles with his gum) ‘We don’t. In the States, we only eat what’s inside. The crusts we collect in a container, recycle, re-bake them into Croissants and sell them to South Africa.’ Mandela: ‘Oh Really?’

Bush: ‘D’ya eat jam with the bread?’ Mandela: ‘Of course.’

Bush: (chuckling and crackling his gum) ‘We don’t, in the States we eat fresh fruit for breakfast, put all the peels, seeds and leftovers into containers, recycle them into jam and sell it to South Africa.

‘ Mandela: ‘Do you have sex in America?’

Bush: ‘Of course we do.’ Mandela: ‘And what do you do with the condoms?’ Bush: ‘Throw them away of course.

‘ Mandela: ‘We don’t. We pack them into containers, recycle them, melt them down into chewing gum and sell them to America.’

Tigresse - Sunset Cruise

Our Fun 1 Comment »

I was treated to a sunset cruise on the Tigresse by my partner and was once again enchanted with the experience. The crew was very friendly and their service with a smile was absolutely wonderful. The toilet facilities was always neat and the little snack pack was packed with good tasting goodies. There was champagne served all the time and on our departure we experienced an entire school of dolphins playing in the bay. Compliments of the skipper.

The sunset lay layers of gold and lead on the swell and the ships and sailing boats made for a picturesque backdrop. It was super romantic and the sights of Capetown was truly captivating. I have also been on their sister CAT the FUJICAT and that made me want to come back for more.

The weather plays a major role so be sure to catch it on a good day, as I have been dissappointed on my birthday before.

Go check out their website.

Koeberg Reserve - Melkbos

Our Fun No Comments »

koeberg.jpg Koeberg Nature Reserve

The area north of Koeberg Power Station was proclaimed a nature reserve in order to protect the diverse range of fauna and flora in the region.

Wel on a Saturday morning woken up by our good physio friend Ros, we jumped out of bed and headed with our bikes to the koeberg nature reserve in Melkbos. It was boiling hot but the trail was filled with wildlife.

You can also view the parachuters coming down from their freefall and then follow their flight.

The sea breeze was very welcoming in the blistering heat. We put our bikes down and went and sat on the beach taking in the fresh air and the beautiful Table Mountain view.

There are hiking trails and offroad trails ranging from 7km to 21km …

So avoid the traffic and head towards the Koeberg Nature Reserve.

J&B Met afterparty - Kennilworth

Our Fun 1 Comment »
logo_met_age.gif 5FM J&B MET OFFICIAL AFTER PARTY 2008

Saturday, 26 January, 18h00
J&B Met Hospitality Village, Kenilworth Racecourse

The J&B Met is the highlight of the Cape Town social calendar and a stomping, rip roaring party follows a day of awesome horseracing, fashion and fun.  The 5FM J&B™ Met Official After Party will take placed at Kenilworth racecourse on Saturday 26 January 2008 from 18h00 until midnight.

The party, located behind the J & B Met hospitality village, sports an open air dance floor with magnificent lighting, VJ graphics and booming, state of the art sound. 5fm’s Roger Goode was performing his Saturday Surgery live from 18h00 – 22h00 followed by 5fm’s DJ Fresh hitting the decks from 22h00 – 23h00.  Cape Town’s DJ Dino Moran ended the night’s festivities. He was truly brilliant

My mates and I went to the Met taking a taxi, thinking it wise as we wanted it to be an all nighter. The party was nothing short of entertaining and the DJ’s were absolutely fantastic. The sound was awesome and the special effects kept us wide eyed. We were shocked though when the lights went on and the music stopped at midnight. The tickets were a R 110 and if we knew the party was only until midnight we would have gone much earlier.

The security was brilliant BUT when the music ended a girl friend and I walked outside to go look for one of our mates. And as we wanted to go back in from the gates we were PUSHED back outside of the gate by one of the security guys. A coloured male screaming at us pushing us back into the road not allowing us to go and fetch our boyfriends and other mates. Luckily our charm wangled our way back in twisting a white young mans arm to let us pass and not be stranded in the road. Now this is not a racial comment on my side but I was treated like a dog and with no respect by this man.

But other than that the party was rocking and the outfits were amazing.

It is a Saturday morning and my boyfriend and I join our mate Grant and his girlfriend Jeannie and her son to go do some rock climbing. In Main Road Observatory City Rock offers a truly fun and challenging experience for the beginner and expert-challenger-rock climber in Capetown. This facility was fun and the gear was very cool. We had no problem finding gear that fit and even the little guys were catered for.

From their website - http://www.cityrock.co.za/ !

Indoor Climbing is Fun and Fitness for All Ages !

Indoor Climbing is a sport that builds fitness, strength, confidence, flexibility and balance.
